He grew up bilingual in German and French and began his career at a regional bank in Brunswick. After qualifying as a Certified Private Banker at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, he joined a family office in Hamburg, where he came to understand how families of significant wealth think and how their wealth is built, structured and managed across generations.

It was this understanding, paired with a lifelong fascination with art and years of following its market closely, that led him to found MONTRÉ ART ADVISORY in Paris.
